- In June 2017, China (via Shanghai) received its first shipment (15,000 boxes) of Costa Rican pineapples from four companies. Costa Rica’s pineapple exports took ~25 days to reach the Port of Shanghai.
- From 2015 to 2016, Chinese (incl. Hong Kong) imports of pineapples increased from 99,283 MTs to 108,537 MTs, while equivalent values increased from USD 109.3 million to USD 113.8 million.
