Cargo train services have begun between Xi’an, capital of northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, and Uzbekistan. - In December 2016, freight train service between Xi’an (Shaanxi Province) and Moscow began operation. The Xi’an-Moscow freight train service took 11 days (via Kazakhstan) and followed the previously opened routes of Xi’an-Warsaw and Xi’an-Hamburg.
- From 2011 to 2015, mainland Chinese imports of cotton from Uzbekistan decreased from US$554 million to US$547 million. In 2015, the bulk of mainland imports were raw/unprocessed cotton (US$285 million) and cotton yarn (US$261 million).
