Poland has a chance to export some 2 billion Polish zloty (518.8 million U.S. dollars) worth of poultry to China, local media reported Monday [19 September 2016]. - Poland is reportedly the only EU member country that is permitted to export chicken and turkey meat to China.
- From 2014 to 2015, Chinese (incl. Hong Kong and Macau) imports of Polish poultry meat products increased from 28,571 MTs to 31,075 MTs. Within this, mainland China imports of Polish poultry meat increased from 5,903 MTs to 12,126 MTs, while Hong Kong imports decreased from 22,639 MTs to 18,948 MTs.
- In August 2014, 23 Polish agri-food companies participated in Hong Kong’s Food Expo fair. At the time, Poland agricultural exports to Hong Kong totaled on average EUR 70 million (~US$92 million) annually, with meat (including poultry) comprising 70% of shipments. Poland was looking to expand exports of apples, apple juice, confectionery products, and dairy products.
