ChinaAg Comment

  • From 2011 to 2015, China (incl. Hong Kong and Macau) fresh watermelon imports decreased from 415,278 MTs to 214,443 MTs. The primary reason for the drop in imports was due to declining imports from Myanmar. For instance, in 2011, Myanmar exported ~203,000 MTs of fresh watermelon to China. By 2015, this figure had dropped to 11,894 MTs. This is according to data reported by China Customs.
