A popular saying is that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Well, the same can be said about women, at least for housewives who shop at a high-end grocery store in Beijing. During the National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7, I went shopping at the World Good Farming grocery store, also known as Guo Shu Hao in Chinese, in Wangjing area. - Guo Shu Hao (aka World Good Farming) was founded in 2011 and operates two supermarkets in the Wangjiang area of Beijing. The supermarket primarily sources its fresh produce from in and around Beijing and generally prices its products at 30% (on average) above those found in regular supermarkets.
- Jenny Wang’s is another popular high-end Beijing supermarket chain that sells fresh produce at a price premium. The supermarket chain has locations in the districts of Chaoyang and Shunyi, Beijing, which also plays host to large communities of expatriates.
