- According to a Deputy Minister of Vietnam, China will import ~130,000 MTs of Vietnamese watermelons in 2015. The minister noted demand has been increasing 10% annually.
- From 2009 to 2013, mainland Chinese imports of fresh watermelons from Vietnam increased from 135,545 MTs to 198,966 MTs. Burma (Myanmar) was the second largest supplier and saw their volumes drop from 124,380 MTs to 50,730 MTs over the same period.
