- In China, the largest producers of passion fruit are Guangxi Region and Fujian Province, with production also occuring in the provinces of Guangdong, Hainan, and Yunnan. Guangxi Region (incl. Guilin) cultivates passion fruit on ~20,000 hectares, while Fujian Province (incl. Shanghang County) cultivates passion fruit on ~6,700 ha. Hainan Island is a small producer (~100s of ha).
- Chinese passion fruit companies include Guilin Wanhea Agricultural Products and Hainan Langtai Agricultural Development. In general, Guangxi Region primarily grows the purple variety of passion fruit, while Hainan Island primarily grows the yellow variety for juicing.
- In 2013, global passion fruit output totaled approximately 1.4 million MTs. Brazil (passion fruit is endemic to Brazil) was the dominant producer, while Indonesia, India, Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador were secondary producers.
